Week four

This photo shows more growth, but doubt has been cast on the full success of our venture. In discussion with a visitor to the Centre someone commented that the totatoes were looking "a bit leggie", to which the visitor suggested that they were not getting enough sunlight and looked stressed as a result.

Since this there has been some talk of taking them outside for some fresh air through the fire exit that offers some indoor outdoor flow. But then perhaps the adventure would stress them even more......

Week two

As you can see in this weeks photo the inmates are enjoying their new home.

But in the underlying sub text people are starting to talk.....

Are some flowering too soon?
Have some spurt forward prematurely?
Will some out grow their pots?
Will others cope with being neglected?
When will the first dreaded disease and pesky pest appear?
Will the flowers be left alone for pollination to occur naturally or will some interfere with the pistils and stamen?

Week One

Monday 2 November, and we celebrated the arrival of the tomatoes at the SLC.

Here they are all lined up, some big some small, a variety of varieties, but all one big Solanum lycopersicum.

Friday 6 November: Not even one week and 3 of the plants have flowers already. Bring on the bees!
